New England Fall Spectacular
September 24 – October 3
Day 1, Sep 24: Our first day is a travel day-- a day to get acquainted with our fellow travelers and enjoy the autumn scenery. Overnight in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Day 2, Sep 25: Travel day through upper state New York. Overnight in Henrietta.
Day 3, Sep 26: Experience Massachusetts as we head to Sturbridge. Activities today include a tour of the Norman Rockwell Museum. See many of the illustrator’s works in the original oil paintings at your own pace. Overnight in Sturbridge.
Day 4, Sep 27: This morning we travel to Maine with a stopover in York at the Stonewall Kitchens. The business manufactures Maine-made specialty condiments and is named for the graceful stonewalls that surrounded the original farm. Next we are joined by a local guide to embark on a driving tour and learn the history of the coastal villages of Kennebunk and Kennebunkport. Highlights include sandy beaches and rocky coastlines, the George Bush Estate, Walker’s Point and a Maine Lighthouse. We hop off the coach to discover the heritage of America’s Grand Trolley era at the Seashore Trolley Museum. Tonight savor a classic “downeast” Lobster Bake dinner with sing-a-long entertainment. Overnight in Ogunquit.
Day 5, Sep 28: Today we make tracks through the gorgeous state of New Hampshire. Enjoy leisure time and lunch in the quaint town of North Conway. In the afternoon we embark upon the glorious Kancamangus Highway, one of the most scenic routes in America, located in the White Mountains. The “Kanc” as the locals call it, is officially the section of Route 112 that serves as both an attraction and destination. Photo opportunities abound with stops at the Albany Covered Bridge and Rocky Gorge. Overnight in Lincoln.
Day 6, Sep 29: Following breakfast, we board the M/S Mountain Washington for a cruise that takes us to the port of Wolfeboro. This delightful lakeside resort offers shopping, the Wright Museum and Old Country Store (circa 1781). Late this afternoon we arrive at the Meredith Station of the Winnipesauke Railroad for a two-hour trip along Lake Winnipesauke and enjoy a hosted hot roast turkey dinner served tableside with all of the trimmings.
Day 7, Sep 30: Discover the state of Vermont today. Activities and attractions include a visit to Rocks Estate (best known for its Christmas Tree Farm), a
Maple Sugar Tour (learn how this sweetest of treats is made), the Quechee Gorge Village (museum, country store, collectibles and antiques), and Woodstock Village, a quaint town featuring a Vermont Covered Bridge. Overnight at the Jiminy Peak Resort that offers a beautiful country atmosphere.
Day 8, Oct 1: Today we say farewell to the spectacular fall foliage yet our journey continues with an afternoon planned at Niagara Falls and evening entertainment at the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel.
Day 9, Oct 2: Travel day to Indiana with an overnight stay in Indianapolis.
Day 10, Oct 3: We’re homeward bound with new memories, stories to share and photos to be developed!
