Getaway to Hermann & Jefferson City

June 15-16, 2012        

Our first destination today is to beautiful Hermann Missouri.  We visit Stone Hill Winery and Restaurant to enjoy an authentic German meal and wine tasting.  Plans also include a visit to Hermanoff Winery for a wine tasting, a tour of the German School & Museum, and visit to Swiss Meats and Sausage Company that was recently featured on the Food Network.  Enjoy sampling many varieties of brats and homemade sausages and browse their gift shop.

Depart the historic city of Hermann and head west to the quaint town of Fulton, Missouri. Before we retire for the night we enjoy a hosted meal at Sir Winston’s Restaurant and Pub (select from Catfish dinner or Red Wine Herbed Chicken Dinner).  Overnight at the new Holiday Inn Express.

This morning we learn more history and more about the great Sir Winston Churchill.  The National Churchill Museum is located on the Westminister Campus, the site of Churchill’s famous “Iron Curtain” speech.     We tour the museum which is housed within the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, a 12 century church from London, redesigned by Sir Christopher Wren in 1677, that was relocated to Fulton.

Before we leave the area we partake in an English Tea which includes homemade treats and cucumber sandwiches.  This is a unique tour you don’t want to miss!
